The great failure of the movie industry is that it eagerly handed over its future to Silicon Valley, and just like with the music business, there will be a lot of pain before things stabilize.

And even with the cost overruns, the revolving door of executives, and a questionable path to financial sustainability, the museum is a huge win for Hudson, who takes a lot of heat among Academy members (justifiably) for the embarrassing decline of the Oscars.For Netflix, though, the Academy Museum is a true triumph of philanthropy as image burnishment, and for Sarandos, last night was his ultimate flex. (I had forgotten how many people booed Michael Moore during his anti-Bush rant in 2003 after winning for Bowling for Columbine.) Overall, itвЂ™s a nice afternoon experience that IвЂ™m predicting will become popular with tourists and locals alike. The video-heavy Oscars timeline feels satisfying, even if IвЂ™d have loved to see more of the memorable speeches.
